Fall into Organization: Storage Solutions to Organize Your Warehouse
Posted by Audrey Hood on 15th Oct 2025
This autumn, we’re bringing you industrial storage solutions that will keep your warehouses and facilities tidy, allowing you to start the new year off strong. Warehouses are filled with all types of things, from inventory to tools, there are many items to keep track of. To keep productivity up, we’re going to help you fall into organization with some storage solutions that really do make all the difference.
Heavy Duty Bolt Bins: The first solution we’re recommending for getting your warehouse organized are our all-welded bolt bins. Heavy duty bolt bins are sturdy storage solutions that are ideal for heavy duty storage or heavy hardware.
Industrial Shelving Systems fabricates these bolt bins with custom sizes and colors for each customer. These heavy duty storage solutions come in a variety of widths, depths, and heights to match the items you’re needing to store. A great feature of these bins is the ability to mix and match different compartments within a single unit. That way, you’re really able to store everything you need based on your specific items, instead of trying to fit everything into a standard size, leaving open space that could be used up.
To really achieve a visually organized aspect, some customers will even request that we use different colors for each bin to designate their different departments. That way it’s not even a question of what’s stored in each bin.
These heavy duty bolt bins also come standard with a forklift base to move them in place and relocate if needed. This allows for adaptability if you’re rearranging, growing, or changing layouts in your facility. Anchor foot plates are also included so that these can safely be secured to the ground. Safety is the number one priority in a warehouse, so making sure these bolt bins won’t fall on a worker is a necessity.
Cantilever Racks: Do you have bulky items or carry lumber in your facility? Cantilever racks are a great solution. These storage racks have arm like features that make them ideal for storing longer, bulky items that don’t fit well on standard racking.
Cantilever racks are great for maximizing vertical space as you can use height to your advantage. Because of their open front storage, these racks also provide easy access for forklifts, making it quick to grab items from the rack or place items on the rack.
These storage systems offer flexibility with their ability to be customized to meet your needs. This racking may be used inside or outside. Cantilever racks can also be customized by number of arms, height, and double or single sided. As your facility grows and expands, add on units can be included to provide more storage space.
Rousseau Drawers: Rousseau modular drawer units are storage solutions that can hold a variety of tools. These modular units have drawers that can be sized in any different specification that you make need. Similar to the heavy-duty bolt bins, these offer a customized way to store items of different sizes and shapes so that you’re not storing everything in a standard size. Inside the drawers there are several options for compartments to really take advantage of the exact specs you need for tools or inventory.
These modular drawers can sometimes be a more efficient choice for warehouses. In some traditional shelving, there can be a lot of air in the units, and modular drawer units eliminate that unused space. (See the video below to see the difference between storing items on traditional shelving versus these Rousseau cabinets!)
Rousseau drawers are widely used in automotive departments, whether in the service department as a part of the technician benches to store tools or in the parts department to hold inventory. Oftentimes, parts departments will add shelving on top of the drawers to store boxes, tubes, or other items that wouldn’t fit in the drawers but is still convenient to have stored nearby.
Pick-to-Light and Put-to-Light: This automation solution is a small module that is placed on the front of racking or shelving and is easily incorporated into existing systems. This directs workers as to the number and location of the SKU that they need to pick, allowing you to keep track of your inventory in an organized manner.
Pick-to-Light and Put-to-Light uses colored lights to show which parts need to be picked for an order. Once that item is picked, the picker pushes a button to alert the system that the part was picked. This leads to less picking errors, letting you keep a more accurate inventory list.
This also speeds up the picking and replenishment process, as workers can move faster when they see the lights. This material handling solution makes it visually easier to see where you need to pick from.
