Celebrating 65 Years of Industrial Shelving Systems

2026 marks 65 years of Industrial Shelving Systems. Since 1961, we have been providing innovative storage and material handling solutions, and we’re proud to continue that commitment to our customers, partners, and community.

The industry has evolved over the years, and so have we. What started as a focus on automotive storage has grown into a full-service approach to helping facilities operate more efficiently, safely, and strategically. Today, ISS services a wide range of industries with solutions that include automotive storage, industrial storage and material handling, and automation technologies.

As our customers’ challenges have changed, we’ve continued to grow alongside them. This year, we’re excited to deepen our commitment by continuing our expansion into automated material handling solutions alongside our traditional static storage solutions. By growing with our customers’ needs, we’re able to apply our knowledge to deliver the most efficient solutions for today’s warehouses and facilities.

In honor of 65 years, we’re taking a look back at the history of ISS.

Our story begins in 1961 when Dan Donovan incorporated Siggins Bin Systems. At the time, Siggins Bin Systems focused solely on automotive parts storage, providing dealerships and parts departments with ways to store and organize their inventory efficiently. This would lay the foundation for what would soon become Industrial Shelving Systems. From those early beginnings, a legacy of customer-first service was established, values that continue to grow in ISS today.

As time passed, the company continued to grow and expand into the industrial market, providing warehouse storage systems and material handling solutions. New service and product offerings have allowed us to create more opportunities while the core values that have guided our company remain unchanged. Industrial Shelving Systems has built its reputation by helping customers solve challenges, improve operations, and make the best use of their space.

Throughout the years, ISS has grown into a third-generation, family-owned company that services customers across the United States. While our solutions have expanded, our focus remains the same, helping our customers solve problems through innovative storage and material handling solutions. From small storage projects to large warehouse systems, our goal is to understand our customers’ needs and recommend long-term solutions that will help them to meet their goals and grow.

As we look ahead, we’re excited about the future. The material handling industry is continuing to evolve through new technologies, and we’re excited to use those to better help our customers. Solutions like vertical lift modules, conveyors, and more will continue to help facilities become more efficient and meet their operational goals.
